Summary of Career

Gonzalo Delaveau obtained his law degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (1987) and a graduate certificate from the Academy of American and International Law, International and Comparative Law Center of the Southwestern Legal Foundation in Dallas, Texas (1993). Mr. Delaveau has extensive experience with complex, innovative corporate, financial and commercial transactions on both domestic and international markets. He also has expertise with projects in the energy, mining, public concessions and natural resource areas. Among his multiple roles, he has led teams specializing in mutual funds, investment funds, venture capital funds as well as real estate, agricultural, mining and forestry funds, both local and foreign; registration of foreign mutual funds, investment funds and ETFs on the Chilean Offshore Exchange and approval of foreign investment securities by the CCR and Superintendency of Pensions. He is also an expert on securitization and led the first transactions with credit portfolios using a revolving mechanism and other complex financing deals.

Prior to joining our firm, he served as of-counsel at Aninat Schwencke y Cía.(2012-2014) and was a partner at Guerrero, Olivos, Novoa y Errázuriz (2000-2012). Before that, he worked as chief counsel for the corporate area at The Chase Manhattan Bank in Santiago, Chile, and as an associate at Ossandón, Uribe y Hübner.

  • Structuring, registration and approval of Aela Energía, a foreign venture capital investment fund that will invest more than US$ 700 million in renewable energy projects in Chile in partnership with Mainstream.
  • Structuring and investment agreement to develop the Río Rocín hydroelectric power plant with 30 MW capacity.
  • Negotiating the sale of Luval S.A., an important importer and distributor of lubricants in Chile.
  • Negotiating an investment agreement and shareholder agreement for developing digital television in Paraguay.
