Juan has over 20 years experience in corporate and investment banking working for international banks in Chile and abroad. He has extensive experience in financings structuring both for banks and capital market debt in local and international markets to support major companies in the country and the Republic of Chile, both general purpose corporate borrowings as well as projects finance, debt restructuring and equity. He has also participated in major mergers and acquisitions and capital increases. He also has a strong background and experience in managing credit risk acquired in the banks where he worked as well as having played the role of Chief Risk Officer at ENAP (Empresa Nacional de Petróleo, a Chilean state company) where among others designed the Credit Policy Manual and chaired the Credit Committee.

He began his career at The Chase Manhattan Bank in Chile in 1988 where he worked for six years, of which he attended in New York to a credit and corporate finance course as part of his training as an analyst and associate in the investment banking area. In this area he participated in several acquisitions operations and privatizations advisories. Subsequently he worked on The Chemical Bank in Chile where he structured several acquisitions transactions for large economic groups in Chile.

He has participated in specialization courses in corporate finance, credit risk, derivatives in Goldman Sachs, Citibank and The Chase Manhattan Bank (now JPMorgan Chase).
